Breast lift
Breast Lift, also known as mastopexy is a surgical procedure that can lift sagging breast tissue, and reshape the breasts in order to enhance their overall appearance and make them appear more youthful.
Breast tissue is held in position by breast skin and tissue. When the breast skin stretches and the volume of breast tissue and fat in the breast decreases, the result is saggy breasts and a less youthful appearance. A breast lift can correct breast droop and raise the position of the nipple/areola. More fullness can be offered with a combination of a breast lift and breast augmentation with implants or fat. Breast size and skin quality are determining factors in breast appearance following surgery.
Key facts
Frequently asked questions
Will I have scars after the surgery?
Breast lift surgery is a delicate balance between achieving aesthetically shaped breasts and scaring. Depending on the surgical approach, there will be a vertical scar down from your areola to your breast crease, there may also be a horizontal scar along your breast crease in an anchor pattern. The severity of the scars will depend on individual factors. All measures will be taken to keep scars to a minimum. Over 12-18 months, the scars will usually fade. It is important to give information on predisposition to keloid scarring as this will affect the type of scarring.
